Miniature golf with a fun park is coming to Woodfin. Putt-Putt North Asheville will be locating at 450 Weaverville Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28804-1121.

I thought Putt-Putt disappeared years ago with competition against other fun parks. It must be doing well enough to be growing.

It also looks like they have a go-kart tract and a batting cage. Hard to see how putt-putt alone cold make it.

Putt-Putt is not coming to Woodfin. The franchisee backed out from Putt-Putt, and will open the new fun park as Play Staytion.

I am not sure if putt putt is the same or similar to mini golf, but if it is, it does quite well at a place I drive by on occasion in Hendersonville. I can see why, too, being it is a nice family event for all ages. Even 2 year olds can have a try at getting the ball into the desired goal. And while going around the course, there is lots of time for talking, laughing, and all around enjoyment in each other's company, all to be had outdoors.

Putt-Putt is a brand of fun parks with mini golf. Mini golf is the actual sport or game. Regardless what the fun park is named, it is something different for Woodfin to have and enjoy.

The Google answer on the difference between mini golf and putt putt:
"There is a qualitative difference between miniature golf and Putt Putt. On a Putt Putt course, every hole is a par 2 and there are none of the whimsical obstacles you'll find in miniature golf, such as windmills and clowns. The tournaments you see on ESPN are all on Putt Putt courses."

Not all Putt-Putt courses are two par. I know one had a three-par course.

Putt-Putt was popular 30 to 40 years ago. It did not keep up with the emergence of better fun parks, and many locations shuttered.

Just last week I learned of a mini golf enterprise in Austin, TX, that combines the golf, beer & tacos, and a dog park, where Fido can run free while the owners shoot a round, down a round, eat and relax.
Sounds like a good match-- reminded me of a place called Suds, that combined a laundromat and a bar. More incentive to get the washing done!
