Nice photos, thanks for sharing with us, motordavid.
It's still been kinda chilly in the early mornings now for the first full week of May.
That's a nice touch of May dusting of snow in the high elevations of Haywood County.
^ Good to read you are back at elevation!
And, + 1 on Mtns vs our 5 months of winter at ~ 30 ft above sea level...
Sun broke out here this afternoon and helped rocket the temps to 62 degs for a few mins.
Enjoying the temps as SummerIsComing, even at our mutual elevations.
GL to you G, and welcome back, from 'below'!
Nice pics of the view from above Waynesville MD! I'll be in Brevard in 3 wks.. The "feels like" temps here in Venice FL/Nokomis are 100-113 every day now. We have not had a break from the heat in weeks.
I'll visit Waynesvile for a day, & Hendersonville, and doing the obligatory Biltmore mansion, but not Asheville proper. Highlands/Cashiers is too expensive (I'm frugal), so I doubt I'll bother going there.
Any other towns I should see? Black Mountain sounds nice. I don't want to go much futher North or East though because I've already got a 10 hr drive to Brevard...up I-85 to 178 or 11....which is best?
Above average sunrise the other morning...fire in the sky.
From our Mtn home deck @ 4,800 ft, above Waynesville.
I was lazy that early at dawn: quick cell phone pic, & I mistakenly discarded the orig and this is a very small thumbnail, jpeg size-wise.
GL, mD
And, the cell image below was literally a minute earlier than above: sunrises change by the min. A few mins after the upper pic, Senora Solar was 'up' and colors were blown out/gone.

@motordavid if you're at 4800 ft, how are your winters? Would you mind sharing a little about your typical winter weather and compared to half way down the mountain and compared to down in town?
