Thanks to all of you! We're tired but ecstatic, floating around every room, dreaming of the house we'll buy... at the same time we're trying to remind ourselves that CA provides a 17-day buyers' remorse period... at the same time we don't want to even think about that. What mixed-up emotions!!! So glad we don't have to do this often!

Jan are you sure about that 17 day remorse period? We lived in CA until 2004 and sold 4 homes in 25 years and no one ever told us about that. Our last home in CA we closed in 21 days.

Thanks for asking, Lorrie, but it is now California law, much to our realtor's chagrin. A neighbor had a full-price cash offer on his house last year, only to have it fall out of escrow on the 17th day simply because the buyer changed his mind. Here's the only link I could find to shed light on the subject: Real Estate: California: Deposit Dispute: California

Oh well. We're down to 14 days now (from tomorrow), and counting....

OMG I Had no idea. The only thing I could think is that our realtor always put a date in like 3 working days to withdraw. From what you said though it seems they have been watching your house for a long time and just waited for a price drop so they must be anxious to close without any problems and since he is a realtor he knows a good home when he sees one and that just happens to be yours.
Lorrie

You just rang a bell, Lorrie. For many, many years, three days was the buyers' remorse period in CA. I think the 17-day period is a new CA law as of 2006. (Lucky us.) There is NO buyers' remorse law in NC, by the way. CA is often the first state to come up with weird new laws, like you can't sell a house now without replacing non-code toilets with low-flow toilets. Like a toilet is going to come between a buyer and seller!! Or like a low-flow toilet is going to save any water when you have to flush it two or three times!!! But that's California....

Don't get me started on toilets. Our Fl home is the only one since the early 90's that one flush will do. In NC we are back to low flow and three flushes maybe will do. I could never see the logic in this.

Typical of government mandated "solutions".... Let's cut water usage in half by mandating toilets use half as much / flush! Brilliant! Then totally perplexed when water usage goes up to 1.3 times previous..... Someone failed to understand it now takes 3 flushes to do what was previously done in 1.

Keeping fingers crossed that your waiting period ends uneventfully!
