a cold front will push thru this Friday, ushering in cooler and drier weather - the city of Asheville will have highs in the mid-upper 70's this weekend

We have a century old farmhouse, and central air would be such a luxury! I've got the air conditioners going, though. As much as I dislike the black walnut trees in my yard - they're messy and when the walnuts hit the tin roof - they provide so much shade.

I am really looking forward to some cooler temperatures.

At least you won't need a heavy coat, or boots.

Yes...dripping walking out of the car! It has been 90-92° for a few days now in W Avl at about 2200'. When you are on the road here it feels like much hotter too. In my second year here, I can say with some certainty that this is apparently not a place to be if you do not like summer heat.

We have posters in the Tampa forum who celebrate when the temps get so damn hot. I can't understand how they like it so much - unless they're homebound. But anyone that spends time doing things (exercise, golf, tennis, hiking, boating, running) hates it.
