I am trying to catch up on some restaurant activity in Asheville from where to eat, who is opening, and who is closing.
Applebee's, 1655 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28803-4132
Applebee's on Hendersonville Road closed Tuesday, 27 December 2016.
Cook Out, 1655 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28803-4132
Cook Out is opening in the former Applebee's on Hendersonville Road. Bids for construction, which is interior demolition and keeping the building shell, are due Friday, 18 August 2017.
Applebee's #86051, 115 Tunnel Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28805-1817
I dined at Applebee's #86051, 115 Tunnel Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28805-1817, approximately 18 years ago after visiting Biltmore. I think I had a sirloin. The price was higher and the portion was small.
Applebee's has changed quite a bit, for the better. At least the one on Four Seasons Blvd. in Hendersonville is excellent. "Almost" too much food. There is usually a small waiting line to get in also. So they must be doing something right. (FWIW also, I'm not big on chain restaurants at all).
Applebee's and chiles , yuk! Never been to cookout . Good local dinner style breakfast & lunch , The Mediterranean on Collage St. Best bbq ribs . Texas Road House , Really . Best all around BBQ in Asheville 12 bones , Gota go see the street art on the buildings around there business . BEST WMC all around BBQ - Green River bbq in suluda east of Hendersonville Good tacos -White Duck tacos down in the river arts district. Chain restaurant food tends to be only ok most times .
Walk off the BBQ from 12 Bones looking at the street art on and around there business . link below
I would like to travel up to Asheville for a day and dine somewhere downtown. What is popular?
What kind of food? Mamacita's...Mexican, Doc Chey's....Asian Dim Sum (will be closing for good after Aug), Farm Burger, White Duck Taco, Pack's Tavern and many, many more
Whats popular down town ! Most any place you go as lines can be down the side walk at prime time with many but that does not means its really good or cost smart . I tried a few place's over years ago in the down town area but found food was only higher priced , not better or as good as can be found away from town center like south Asheville , haywood rd or as you head out toward weaverville .
And parking is always an issue in down town .
Get on yelp or trip advisor and root around for what you want to try . I think some of the best locations went under do to location , building sold , so business closed or in fighting between family members in a couple locations . If you like down home southern food tupelo honey try's to pass them self off as that but not very good if you were raised on good southern food . Best Italian - The Glass Onion in Weaverville NC . 10 minutes north of Asheville . Great food but $$$ . Want lower price go to carababa's !! Asian - Again in Weaverville - SOBA's Good all around Asian
There's a new restaurant in W Asheville called Jarden which everyone is ranting about if you like that kind of food. There's also 9 Mile there. So many choices...
I truly cannot imagine why anyone would eat at an Applebee's in Asheville.
Exactly, much like going to NYC and "dining" at Red Lobster or TGI Friday's.
