Congratulations to Morganton for landing a Fairfield Inn and Suites hotel in downtown Morganton. Looking at towns between Asheville and Winston Salem, Morganton is probably the smallest city in the region to acquire a hotel in a downtown district. Sure, a lot of towns may have a hotel, but they are usually built along an interstate, on the outskirts of a city, for highway travelers. The hotel project comes to the city because it is vibrant and up and coming. Here is an article about the hotel: Downtown Hotel Groundbreaking.

A nice addition to the town, though I would call it a small/medium size hotel.
Now something like the MGM Grand (5,000 rooms) That's what I would call Huge.

I hope this engenders some streetscape improvements on Green North of the theatre up to the new hotel. Maybe better Street illumination, Green North of Union gets a little concerning after midnight and after 10 PM North of Avery.
