Hello,

Anyone knows which locations would have reliable public Wifi in or near Beech Mountain? I'm planning a trip to the area on Feb 15 and will need to stop somewhere to attend a virtual meeting for about an hour. The airbnb I'm staying at has Wifi but the check-in time is after the meeting. Unfortunately I can't do it on my phone

I'm thinking somewhere in Boone would be my best bet but I'm not familiar with the area so would like some input from locals and recent visitors. At Beech Mountain itself is ideal but not sure if this exists. Any specific restaurants, cafes, etc. where I would be able to sit down with my laptop and use the wifi for an hour? Maybe somewhere at the university? I plan to support any business which would help me with this and follow whatever guidelines they recommend. If I have to sit outside it's not a problem.

All suggestions are welcome, thank you for your time.

Looking forward to my first visit to your beautiful state

Thanks,
fleebs

Call Beech mt town offices to verify what I am saying, but I believe Beech Mt has free WiFi in town for visitors.

You can also call Brick Oven Pizza and ask for Jimmy, the owner. He can tell you if they offer it. In fact, you can probably call Brick Oven Pizza and Jimmy can answer both questions as he's also a town councilmen.

Brick Oven Pizza: (828) 387-4000

Town hall: (828) 387-4236

Thanks for your help. I contacted the town hall and they told me I could either use their lobby or go to the Buckeye Rec Center and they had Wifi as well. I went to the Rec Center and was able to complete my meeting in the reading room no problem. We didn't end up going to the Brick Oven Pizza place but it looked delicious in pictures I saw.

Overall, it was a fun trip. I'm no good at skiing but I got away uninjured and enjoyed all the people I met. I thought there would be more Floridians there but it seemed we were the only ones with a funny accent People are a lot more direct but mostly in a good way. Strangers were way more talkative with me in public than I'm used to, which had me flustered as an introvert but I enjoyed experiencing the differences

Good for you! Glad it was mostly a fun trip.

The snow hasn't been that great the last couple of weeks, but the skiing has been pretty good most of the season.
Buckeye Rec building is a relatively undiscovered resource up there. I've only been a couple of times, but it was mostly empty during my visits. It is on the other side of the mt from us, so a bit inconvenient.
