We want to visit Asheville this weekend and all I know about the place is Biltmore estate. Which are the other places of tourist attraction in and areound Asheville? We are getting good deal for a hotel in central Asheville. Is this place too far from the estate?

Please help finding these things out.
Thank you all for your response.

Any of the downtown hotels are only 3 miles or less from the entrance to the Biltmore Estate.

Depending on what you like to do, there are some great shops, galleries and restaurants downtown. Worth the time to take a look around.
The Grove Park Inn is quite famous and even if you just go up there for the view it is worth it. Just a couple miles from downtown. There are also many outdoor activities in and around Asheville.
If you can expand on your interests, it might be easier to point you in the right direction.

The Biltmore is fairly interesting and you can spend almost an entire day there doing a variety of activities. I would suggest the winery. Downtown can also be an experience. Yes Asheville Native is right there are some interesting people about but it is really no different than going to a larger city's downtown, it is just smaller. Downtown is full of unique shops that you will not find anywhere else, but most of them close between 5 and 6 pm.

If you like art there are several art gallerys in the River Arts District.

Do the self guided walking tour downtown. You will discover cool parts of Asheville you didn't know existed.

Default Things to do in Asheville

Shindig on the Green is downtown this Saturday. Go to Asheville Chamber and it will give you all the events thru the year. My family is from Asheville and my brother and family still live here so I visit often. This weekend as well. We always go downtown and love it. Biltmore Village is a neat little area as well. Back to downtown, they have The Grove Arcade which I think is a lot of fun. If you like beautiful buildings, Asheville is full of them and great little restaurants. I rarely ever come across pan handlers. There is a small museum downtown as well and if you have kids, an area for children. The Farmers Market is great. It is not in downtown but easy to find. Get a map and ask folks, they are very friendly.
