Google is coming? Suddenly, I am very interested in Lenoir. We're retiring so I don't need a job, bt we like living with computer people and also it's been our experience that wherever Google goes, interesting stores are soon to follow, especially grocery stores like trader joes. Don't know a thing about Lenoir (yet), but on the map it seems to be in the foothills, so it may be a pretty place. I want to know all sorts of things, good and bad. What else is there--who lives there--does it have crime/poverty problems--etc. Also, what's the proper way to pronounce Lenoir.

"La nore" is the best way I can tell you to pronounce it
I would definitely give it a look-see. It is more rural but in a pretty area with mountain views. In no time at all you can be up in the mountains themselves by heading up 321 toword Blowing Rock - a place I'd live myself for sure. Lenoir has gone down hill economically in the last decade as the furniture industry has pulled out, but it's in no way a slum or anything. Hopefully someone with more insight into the crime and kinds of people there will chime in and fill you in.
