How exactly is it contradictory?

Secondly, how do you make your claim without adjusting for historical industry like agriculture and aerospace?

Do you have something we could read to source at least the latter?

It is contradictory because people try to avoid moving to areas with mediocre to poor schools if they do in fact have kids, but unfortunately the reality is not often the case. Second, you keep bringing up agriculture and manufacturing, and I have posted in numerous other threads that is a small fraction of the total number of jobs in the state. Kansas has performed among the worst of any state economically over the last year, does not even remotely track with the rest of the country as a more rural non energy patch state. Given the recent census update of flat to negative population growth at the state level, people are leaving in increasing numbers to states that are performing better economically.

Could you show a 10 year example of out-migration? like a graph or something?

As previously noted I think you see many things Kansas as Y = mx + b

Instead of Y = m(i)x(i) + b where i is a large series.

Not much different from south Dakota except no state income tax. I'm here for the work. Sioux falls is 50 minutes away going 80mph. Sioux falls is smaller than wicheta. I'm fine with it. To each their own. They have a nice off road bike trail and falls park which I use fairly often.

I can transfer to other 3m plants if I want but have not so far though I have my eyes on Greenville sc.

Most of the points the OP makes are technically accurate though except around here there are numerous lakes and fishing is popular. Winters are quite a bit colder while summers are about perfect. Because its not as hot it typically stays green here in summer.

I like warm and severe weather so I'd personally prefer Kansas... Our severe weather is pretty tame unless you head west or south a ways.

If you dislike it that much you should move to a higher population density area with a bigger meteo area like Milwaukee.

I'll dig up the statistics in a bit, but that does not change statistical and economical realities. Those realities do not take too many complex formulas to determine that out-migration out of the state is quite high and economic growth is negative in the last year. It's hard to come up with revenue streams with income tax reductions, negative economic growth, and out-migration. The math won't work regardless.

Regardless of your ideology, government is only as good as the people running it. Even good ideas can get run into the ground by incompetence. You can go around the entire country and find examples of both left leaning and right leaning places that are good or bad. Using a singular example like Maryland or Wichita to prove a larger point is pure lunacy, and I think you know it

Probably not reading this thread any longer but the poster you were referencing is one of the complete loonies on the Baltimore forum. A typical finger pointer and nothing more.

Those that reject our Creator are rejecting the giver of life. Go right ahead. Step right up. Take a card, any card.

We have lived in metro areas with well over 1 million people and a small town with 9,000. Wichita is a great place because you can get anywhere in town in about 25 minutes. The amenities are nice and people are friendly. I love the Wichita flag and the pride that people have in living here.
