I've watched with interest the decline of golf courses in the Wichita area. My dad played those courses, from 1939 onward. He won the KS State Flight A Championship one year. As he worked @ Beech Aircraft, he was a first choice on Frank E. Hedrick's foursomes.

Dad played golf with the automotive dealing Scholfield brothers; and, as they, a founding member of the Augusta course.

Like any avid golfer, Dad could describe every spot his golf ball landed on a course. I wish I could hear Dad typing out a LTE of the Wichita Eagle giving the city some advice. Green space in every city is a valuable public asset, increasing Quality of Life.

Someone recently commented on one web page about this, saying they didn't know why anyone would want to build new houses so near "the ghetto", but since gentrification seems to be a thing these days, it might be a good thing, in this instance.

So looks like this deal is dead. My sons have been taking junior golf lessons at Auburn Hills. The only courses I have played in town are Terradyne, Crestview North, and Sand Creek in Newton. What are some other public courses that are worth my time? We have thought about joining a club I just want to make sure my sons are going to play with me before I make the commitment.
