Hi All,

I have narrowed down some apartment complexes to live in wichita on the north east side. Based on previous posts and crime statistics maps, I have decided to live north of 21st and east of oliver.

I have narrowed down to two apartment complexes based on where apartments are available and which are within my budget. I would appreciate if anyone could add any postive/negative infomation they know about these places.

Willow Creek apartments at 5700 Mainsgate (near 21st and Woodlawn)
Olde English Manor (21st and woodlawn)

Some of the other apartments further north did not have 1 bedroom apartments for me, So I will probably have to choose between these two. I prefer to be within 3 miles or so of WSU, and do not want to be near the crime ridden areas between WSU and downtown.

Thanks

I live near there. I really think you will be fine there. Not the absolute best , but no way near the worst.
You could walk to WSU if needed, might be HOT or COLD , and we have wind! I think the bus goes on 21st.

Dillion's is just east on 21st @Rock- 24hr., small library branch, bill pay location
Wal Mart north up woodlawn and right on29th @Rock
Plenty of restuarants(subway, spangles, burger king, wendys,to name a few are right there at woodlawn & 21st) docs & dentist, other shopping and such in the general area.

good luck to you!

I might also suggest Ponderosa Apartments, which are right next to Willow Creek. They are nicer (and hey, they even have free cable TV).

good luck getting into willow creek, they have terrible leasing agents. if you want to be fairly close to wsu, there are a couple of small apt buildings in the college hill area (central and hillside) which is a much prettier neighborhood than the woodlawn and 21st street (and safer too). check out central park apartments and college hill apartments

As a previous poster stated not a bad area not the best.
You might consider Sundance, close to everything,Indoor tropical pool.
College Hill is a good choice as well.

Central & Hillside is not safer than 21st and Woodlawn.

IMO I think the OP would find it easier to navigate, given his situation, around from Woodlawn & 21st; there is more 'stuff' around there than Central and Hillside/or College Hill. although those are not 'horrible' areas.

I forgot about Sundance, they seem to be pretty nice...might be a little more costly??? A little further East on Rock right off 21st.

I dont live in wichita so I don't really have a seasoned opinion. But I have alot of family and friends there and have spent aloot of time there. I have friends that live in woodgate apartments on 21st right off of oliver, they seem pretty nice and affordable but i see your interested in one bedroom and im not sure about that really.
I have another few friends that live in talloaks on oliver right off 21st, the apartment there that they have is really nice and i believe they have one bedrooms.

Anyways just a thought! goodluck!

woodgate apartments = hoodgate apartments. A month ago my friend's neighbor was shot on his balcony for no reason. Last week there was a huge gang fight in the courtyard.

It is a terrible complex
