Some photos of the Badger Ordnance Works which we visited one morning last year;demolition of most of the buildings was well under way. It was the biggest ordnance factory in the world while it was open.

Went out on the pontoon last night on Yellowstone Lake in Lafayette County. A beautiful night, we packed a picnic. These were taken with a cellphone.

i used to actually bowhunt in there some years ago, was the coolest time walking around and seeing the bunkers, buildings, overhead hot water piping, etc. One could only imagine what it was like living/working in there during those times.

Here are a few from a country drive we went on yesterday, got bored here at home so just decided to go for a drive. Just areas locally, close to Chilton, where Im from.
My camera....everytime I change batteries the time and date resets itself so excuse that part, I wasnt even living here in WI in 2007 (yet).

They are doing some around our town that in my opinion were just fine, and would have been fine another 10 years.... meanwhile driving through MN to get to WI there are still stretches in dire need of reconstruction. Most of them are asphalt stretches or areas where they put asphalt over perceived imperfections in the concrete when it wasn't necessary.

WI's seem fine but I've noticed them reconstructing areas with asphalt. Concrete is far superior to use on an interstate with a good base material in place.

We spent last week rambling around Door County and had a wonderful time. It was rainy for part of the week, but we had two nice days plus a bit of sunshine as we headed home, and I'm afraid I went rather overboard with the digital camera. In my defense, the leaves were spectacular, making an already-beautiful part of the state even more lovely.

We like to find side roads and just ramble along, letting the road lead us where it will:

There's an amazing overlook outside of Ellison Bay, and the road to reach it is almost more beautiful than the overlook itself:

Every turn and twist of the road reveals more beauty:

This was in Peninsula State Park, on the bay-side of the peninsula:

It was a little hazy, but the view from Eagle Overlook in the park was incredible:

I love the way the deep green cedars alternate with the vivid golds and crimsons of the maples and birches:

The sun finally came out and the blue sky sparkled on our final morning in the peninsula, and although many of the leaves had fallen by then, we still found a few patches of brilliant color to bring home:
