Cool - I know you're not supposed to, but if ripe, we always pick a few pear fruit and sometimes take a paddle or two for salads and so on. It's a good place to see the seasonal differences, too. Before spring hits and pre-snow late fall, it really looks desolate and sandy. Tons of colors everywhere once spring hits due to all the prairie flowers, and suddenly there's some green, though it still looks arid. By late June, the cacti are blooming, and there's bright yellow everywhere. At that point, everything's a brilliant green (as opposed to a more muted one now, like in the pics above). And so on. Glad you liked it!

Updated now, countrylv22. Theose were not the best quality, taken with my phone. I should have brought my high-end digital camera with me that day.
Edit: Never mind, apparently photobucket has turned into a pile of garbage, I will try to load them from a different site later.

New Vilas County 2018 fall pictures coming up soon. Sugar maple foliage was nice this year, I came through just as conditions were moving toward past peak, however. Google took my updated GIS data for National Forests, State Forests, Conservation Areas, Campgrounds, etc for Vilas County. It is now updated on Google Maps.
