I was recently checking to see which states honor a Texas CHL (concealed handgun license) and I noticed that Wisconsin and Illinois are the only No-Issue jurisdictions(officially). I wouldn't expect anything different from Illinois, but why on Earth is Wisconsin No-Issue?

Because people react emotionally to CC rather than logically and look at the numbers. They the Opponents say more guns will mean more violence. Which when you look at the numbers it is just not true.

My favorite topic! For the record, you may open carry in Wisconsin. But to answer your question, WI does not have a shall issue for conceal carry yet mostly because of the illustrious and soon-to-be ex-govenor Doyle. Give it a few years.

I think it's time for concealed carry. I'm a state correctional officer,my life gets threatened on a daily basis by inmates, and I live in Milwaukee. I think it's kind of garbage that I can't carry for protection.

I fully admit I might be ignorant on this, but I am pretty sure that even with concealed carry you couldn't bring a weapon into a prison. From your post it makes it seem like you want to carry for protection from inmates. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

I would say contact your representatives for repeal of 941.23, but being in Milwaukee, that likely won't get you very far.

Unless of course you happen to live on the far west side, where you can write Leah Vukmir about it.

In any event, it will be coming, and soon. Scott Walker has indicated he will sign either a CCW permit system into law, or a simple repeal of 941.23/167.31 (my personal favorite; also called Constitutional Carry and what Arizona just enacted, along with Alaska and Vermont).

So do you mean that "you may open carry in Wisconsin" as in one could walk into WalMart with handgun holstered on their hip and no one would think anything of it, or do you mean that it is not necessarily illegal but...

Unsure where can legally carry openly but years ago this old guy always had a pistol in small of back wherever he went taverns and all which in my eyes in dangerous but in a vehicle must be exposed and cased when moving so a officer can see it in plain view.We can carry them holstered and loaded for hunting situations. I would like to see if does pass a certification to carry like have in South Carolina. Wisconsin does have some fruit cakes that would carry just to be cool as hey I have a pistol and whip it out wherever.
Like they say guns do not kill people people kill people.

lol No,I mean that when most offenders get released, they're getting released back to Milwaukee. I think I should be able to carry a weapon to protect my family and myself if the need ever arises.
