we lived in Wausau about 10 years ago, and have visited infrequently since. I remember it being a safe, relatively clean, laid back town with a great community feel. We loved it there! I read the Daily Herald from time to time to check up on things, and it seems like meth could be a issue there now, and there *seems* to be some arsons n things that i never worried about 10 years ago. What do the locals think? How is the town holding up?

The town is fine. I don't think it's changed much in the last 10 years. A little more diverse as far as race goes, which is good. There isn't that much of a meth problem. I think it's the whole central wisconsin as a whole and not just Wausau. Can't think of anything major that's changed. It's MUCH easier to get onto Highway 29 west not from hwy 51 and vice versa.

That's really all I can think of, beside new shopping places.

We just moved to Wausau in July and love it here. I feel very safe and have never met such friendly people. I do wish there were a few more restaurant choices. I think there is plenty of support seeing how busy the new Olive Garden is. I'm looking forward to a beautiful spring and summer.

Welcome Kandy. If you haven't been here in the Spring, it's great watching everything come back to life.

Default Wausau wi - compared to Marshfield

What about Wausau wi compared to Marshfield? What does anyone think as a better area for good schools and great community life? We are looking to move to the area (for husband's new job) and can live anywhere within 1/2 an hour's drive. Pro's/con's for between the two? Thx!
