I would only suggest one of these (extremely boring) suburbs if your daughter wants to be extremely bored and totally isolated and cut off from the university community.

From any of those suburbs, she'd be looking at a 20-30+ minute commute.

One of the nicest aspects of UW-La Crosse is that it is integrated right into one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city and it is not not a strip-mall-like campus where there is more desert-like blacktop for parking than anything else.

Your daughter would have plenty of housing options, everything from a flat in a house, an apartment, religious housing communities or living with a family. I have a relative who has grad students stay in her house, providing him/her with a room and access to kitchen, etc.

Good luck!

Hi WisedUpMom,

If you are still giving consideration to buying a property in La Crosse for your daughter while she attends school, you may be interested in looking at a home that I have for sale. It was my own during my single years, but has since been a rental property. Last year, I ended all lease agreements and decided to remodel the entire house so I could put it up on the market. The house will be completely finished within the next 2 weeks.

Here is a link to a website with more details, pictures, and contact information if interested:
