Hi, we are thinking of visiting in the Neenah/Appleton/Green Bay area and were wondering about the Lake Winnebago recreation opportunities in late summer/early fall. Do many people who live there have their own small boats and go fishing on the lake? Are there lots of places to rent a boat? I can ask the state fish & wildlife department about fishing regs but any other info is much appreciated. Is there a big mosquito problem, or no more so than most lakes? THANKS!

Edit: Also, what are the golfing opportunities like -- public, private, etc. thx again

Good luck getting an answer to this question. I posted a similar thread "Vacationing in Fond du Lac" asking pretty much the same question and have had NO response. We HAVE a boat, and are looking for somewhere to launch it, and somewhere we could keep it overnight.

Hey, I'm from Milwaukee and only have visited FDL a couple of times. However, I remember a pretty nice marina/boat launch on the south tip of Lake Winnebago.

You could probably find it on google maps, it seemed like there was a large park surrounding the area. I'm not sure about overnight boat parking though.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your time.

Yea it is a big recreation lake. Many motor and sail boats out there every weekend. Fishing goes hot and cold. Late summer can be tough but that is true anywhere.
You will have no problems finding launches especially near bigger towns of FDL, Oshkosh and Neenah.

Watch the wind! It ia shallow lake and can get pretty whipped up.

Mosquitos are no issue out on the lake and the lake flies are gone by this time of year.

Thanks Jesse. DID find the marina on line, but there's no place to keep it overnight. I think we may have changed our plans to Lake Geneva.

the park in FDL is called Lake Park and is at the southern end of lake Winnebago.
