How thoughtful of you to post this thread in the forum of a state that just suffered untold millions of dollars worth of flood damage thanks to a wave of storms that have claimed over two dozen lives, rather than in your own state's forum. Yes, please, tell us all about your low water problems.

Heh, Drover, we're flooding in parts of WI too, actually. I've been incredibly lucky; the water table was only an inch or two from flooding my place, but FEMA is supposedly coming into a bunch of counties in southern WI to check on things. We'll see how much good THAT does.

So no, no low water level problems here.

Too bad water flows downhill... we'd sure love to send you some of our surplus.

Anyway, I worked at a summer camp near Wautoma for a couple of years in the early 90s. This concern was present back then too. Some speculated that the lake upon which we conducted our boating activities would be gone within 10 years. Two years later, the bottom six inches of our boathouse was under water, whereas 2 years prior it was 20 feet from shore. This comes and goes in cycles; in a few years you might be fretting that the water is creeping too close to your homes.

Default I was not trying to offend anyone

just over the last couple of weeks of driving around I was astonished at the distance people peirs are from the shore. I posted on the IL page as I think over 50% of the homes are vacation homes form illinois. I was just wondering is it hard to sell a home on a lake where the pier is 40 ft from the water as it looked like about 30-40% of homes on most of the lakes are for sale and the prices are 400K to over a million with no nice water front, only a bunch of smelly sand and mud.
