Has anyone lived or visited Spring Green, Wisconsin? I'm considering moving there. Doing research. What can you tell me about the town? Pros/cons? Likes/dislikes? Where can I find a room to rent? Do you have any photographs?

Thanks,
Amy

Can I ask why you would consider moving to a place you've never been to? It's small town America, with a few high brow cultural attractions. Finding a job may be a challenge.

I lived in Spring Green for ten years. I loved that town. It is beautiful with many possibilities for outdoor activities. There are many artists and artsy types along with your typical small town, rural types. There is a wonderful classical theater--http://americanplayers.org/

By renting a room, do you mean a motel room to check the place out? Finding a room to rent as in a rooming house or with roomates might need to be done on Cragslist. I rented a room for a week with an old farm couple and couldn't wait to find my own a place--a house with a couple of other teachers.

The Home News is the local paper and advertises apartments and rooms for rent. Home News Buyers Guide : Welcome

Do you have a job lined up? Spring Green has a population of about 1300 people, so it's not a hotbed for jobs. I commuted my last couple of years there from Madison, which is about a 45 minute drive.

Although I love living in a big city, I could happily move back to Spring Green, a place filled with amazing views and wildlife and many intellectual and artistic people.
