Hi,

I live in Stevens Point and am looking forward to seeing some (really) good fireworks on July 4th/ upcoming weekend. I am willing to travel 2-3 hrs one way.
Can anyone let me know which city should I travel to for the same?
I have La Crosse as an option, but I want to know how good the fireworks are over there.

(I know I missed Rhythm and Booms in Madison..... )

US Bank fireworks are in Milwaukee on the 3rd. They shoot off from two locations at once plus the grand finale is like 40min long. I have been to the booms in madison and the US Bank ones in Milwaukee and to me the US Bank fireworks are the best by far. Just a little hint, arrive very early or park a ways away and take a cab, driving an trying to find parking around there with summerfest going on as well, it's nearly impossible to park anywhere close.

Don't bother coming down to southern Wisconsin (around Madison). All the fireworks have been cancelled due to the drought. The only place I know that's even having fireworks is Elver Park, in Madison, which is tonight (July 3) for some reason. All the other towns' have been cancelled.

Hi MC,
Thanks for the info. I missed the fireworks in Milwaukee though since they were on 3rd July, and I was able to get out of the office only at 6:30 PM.

Will keep this info in mind for next year.

I hopped a plane to Seattle and watched the fireworks display in 70 degree temps. Guess I'll save my personal stash of pyrotechs until next year.

Revitalising an old thread:

Can I buy tickets for Rhythm and Booms in Madison online? If yes, can someone provide me the link?

Stevens Point used to host some awesome worldwide fireworks competition every two years, I remember China, Russia, France, and other countries participating. Not sure if they still do that, but if so, it's much recommended.

The free Elver Park fireworks in Madison are July 2, 2013. Not sure how that date was picked this year. I can understand not wanting to do July 4 to avoid overtime pay for all of the city workers needed, but July 3 or 5 seem like much better options, imho.
