Actually I have seen nicer ones even. On Lake Mille Lacs in MN they have ice fishing villages set up that you can rent that have kitchens, electricity, etc. I know of a few serious ice fishers that have some pretty decked out ice houses--although I don't think they have satellite tv.

There was a story a year or two ago about a couple of fellows who built the "ultimate ice-fishing shack" in Wisconsin. (Could have looked like this, for all I know, I never actually saw a photo of the interior.) Thing was, these guys had some sort of arrangement so that they wouldn't have to go out in the cold to answer nature's call. If I recall correctly, it involved a funnel and a tube to the exterior - though I wouldn't have wanted to be walking past when it was in use!

Well, they were out there ice-fishing and drinking beer, and apparently between the beer and the cold, there was a fair bit of, ah, output through this contraption they rigged up. In fact, there was so much warm water emerging from the ice shanty and puddling up on the ice outside that it melted the ice. And the shanty then gracefully slid into the hole that was created. The photo that I remember was of the "ultimate ice-fishing shanty" tipped over at about a 45 degree angle, partially stuck in the ice that re-formed once the warm fluid had a chance to freeze, and I laughed about it for days!

You kiddin'? That's a small one. There are some McMansionShacks out there come wintertime. I swear people live out in some of these houses for weeks at a time.
