My husband is going to be working in La Crosse and we will be moving from the west coast. What cities near this area are the best to live in. We have two kids (middle school and elementary) so I want to make sure we buy in a good neighborhood with a good school district. Does anyone have experience with the LaCrosse school district? Also is LAX short for LaCrosse?

Thanks for your time.

I don't know much about LaCrosse, other than I've been there once and I remember that it seems like a really nice town--it's beautiful there! But I do know that people do use LAX when referring to LaCrosse, if that helps

Thanks, that does help. It looks very pretty on the city's website, I am just a little nervous about the weather- but every state has their negatives.

I'd just as soon live in LaCrosse proper. Nothing wrong with the place as long as you stay away from the college hangouts.

Yeah, the winters can be a little bad sometimes, but it's not so bad once you get used to it. The last few years, the winters haven't been quite as cold and there hasn't been nearly as much snow, at least in my opinion. And you can still have fun...there's lots of little ski hills, and the kids will love getting out of school on snow-days and going sledding!!
