My husband and I are considering relocating to Saukville from Milwaukee. We recognize there isn't much within the city in terms of shopping/restaurants etc, but feel its close enoughto Port Washington and Grafton. Our primary focus is a safe neighborhood and good schools for our two young children that is also affordable. We are POC and want our children to grow up in a safe and welcoming place. Does anyone have recommendations or insights of this area? Thank you in advance

It's a great area, you feel miles away from any big city yet you are so close. They have a lot of great small town events like most small towns do. The only thing I would add is live south of 33 to avoid so much truck traffic that goes through the industrial park. Don't worry about being from the city as most people from Saukville that I have met are Milwaukee transplants as well. Port has a ton of stuff going on and a cool downtown and lake front. Welcome to the land of Oz! Ozaukee County that is.

I like to visit Saukville's Rifle and Pistol club. Good crowd there.

Walmart is right in the Saukville too, I go there often.

Having said that, anything outside of Milwaukee county is good and quiet. Sometimes it might be too quiet. Also, think about where you're going to work, and how you'd commute to the job. If commute is not important, I'd probably go even further out than Saukville. If it is, I'd stay closer to the Milwaukee.
