Hi my husband and myself are looking to purchase our first home and have not found anything we like in our current Rockford, Il area. We have always talked about moving to Wisconsin and have found a good number of homes we like I'm the Beloit/Janesville area. We have been told to avoid the east side of Beloit and know nothing about Janesville. Any advice or input is greatly appreciated! We are looking at houses this weekend and need a plan!

Janesville has been discussed on here before. It is a decent town, very blue collar type area. The economy has been slowly recovering after the GM plant closed a few years back. I would think if you're used to living in Rockford, you should certainly be fine with Janesville.

Right, Janesville/Beloit are similar in a lot of ways to Rockford, so culturally it's not that different, but both are far safer.

wen considering a move to a different city look a the positives and negatives of the city one smart phone app that I really like is friend finder it allows you to check out the city you like and wen you zoom in to the street level it will give you current information about all the crimes on the area and there is also another app for Shorewest company that allows you to find homes for sale and on the website it gives you school information even if you are not buying a home all the resources are there to help you get the information that you need to consider
