Backstory first, then pestering questions.

(I've used this forum before, I've tried the search and slogged through a lot of out-of-date posts.)

Military family currently in Alaska, moving to the Northwoods since that's where I'm from (I was born in Ashland, but I'm on tribal rolls on the Fond du Lac res in MN). My parents (who live in Italy) are moving to Hayward to open an Italian restaurant near/on the LCO. My siblings are also moving to the area to help run the restaurant. My Grampa lives between Hayward and Ashland, my dad's family are a few hours south.

I'm an EMT with SAR/ACLS/Arctic/expanded scope experience who will be going to med school in a few years, spouse is retiring from the AF and is an IT/Network Security nerd.

Is there a hospital ambulance service in that area to sign on with? I can't seem to find any employment listings for EMTs. I do not mind commuting to Duluth/Superior if need be.

Same for IT guys, husband doesn't want to step down from running base-level computer networks to answer phones at an electronics store, but we can't seem to find employment listings for say, phone companies. He's going to do Troops to Teachers, but he'll need something to keep us until then.

We're also looking for our dream property, in case anyone has some in his/her back pocket!
· 15+ acres on a lake
· Old log lodge or resort, preferably with cabins
· Decent elevation with tall trees

We have a big family, with plans for an orchard, huge greenhouse, some goats or a dairy cow, and a small number of poultry.

May can't come soon enough!

I would keep an eye open for IT jobs at the colleges (Northland, WITC, UW Superior). I just checked Northland, but no dice. You never know when one might open up, though. Also, have you thought about south of Hayward toward Rice Lake? A bit more commerce for potential jobs, and still several possibilities for old resorts. However, if you are going to med school, wouldn't you want to be closer to the colleges in Duluth or Twin Cities?
