I'm not going to comment on this specific incident. I will say, I love almost everything about Wisconsin. The ecosystems, cities, towns, people, culture, climate, etc. The one issue I had with it is it being a rather strong police state with a police force prone to abuse. I was lucky, but the things I saw happen (well worse than this incident), and just the sheer number of police, was really discouraging.

Wisconsin has horrendous water quality and environmental policy...

just an example (it's even worse now in the last few years under Walker's no-EPA administration)

Top 10 Worst States for Water Quality : puriteam

There was recently an article listing WI as the worst state for tap water and surface water quality... it's NOT good.

WTH does this opinion have to do with post topic?

don't see any problem with the takedown as cop was trying to grab a highly agitated and aggressive drunk. guy backed up into the trunk of a car and that tooks the legs out from under him.

dumb*** drunk. this should make that cops show or 'america's dumbest' in one of their 'drunk and stupid' segments.

It really isn't surprising. Police investigating themselves, and end up finding no wrong doing. There is something very wrong with that. At least the governor passed this to fix the self investigation issue. http://www.policeone.com/investigati...volved-deaths/

gov. walker has done so much good for this state, this isn't surprising and i'm in favor of it. as we are seeing on the federal level in dc, their own dept of justice is the poster boy of corruption and malfeasance.

i'm glad they will use people from an outside agency, but (hopefully) ones with law enforcement training/experience. putting people on review boards with personal agendas or axes to grind will do nothing good for justice.

fwiw, i can see the lack of training/experience by a lot of people that have a hard time with that video.
the only reason why he went down is due to the rear of the car being so low, so it took out his legs and mighty mo took both of them down. and cop didn't try and hit him with his right hand either, but it looks that way to some.

I think a lot of the comments in this thread are a prefect example of this... there's a lot of people in Wisconsin who really think even the most superficial questioning of how a cop is conducting himself warrants anything a cop wants to do in retaliation... even taking a person's life.

Yes, drunks can be belligerent and even dangerous, but nothing the guy did warranted that type of reaction from the cop... I know because I would've lost my job if I'd have reacted like that when I was a bouncer. You mean to tell me that with all the training police officers receive to know how to deal with a situation like that... training I was never afforded... that they couldn't have found a way to resolve it without violence?

Not only do I not buy that, but the fact that the other cop tried to push the camera guy away shows even HE knew his partner was out of line.
