Regarding your mother, I'm going to assume she's been retired for quite a while...to pretend teaching today is anything like it was decades ago is completely disingenuous.
Yeah, you're right. My friend is lazy and sucks at her job. You got me there.

And my mother is 58 and still teaching, mainly because she does not belong to a union and can't retire after she has her 30 years in like the rest of them.

This weekend I'll call her and ask her if she is lazy and sucks at her job.

Uh, 58 isn't old at all. I would fully expect someone to still be teaching at 58.

Maybe unions aren't so bad after all then.

My mom was a (non-unionized) middle school teacher and taught until she was 66. Most of her coworkers retired around the same age.

"most of us here" have already been talking about his in this thread, so please take your offendedness and indignation elsewhere....or stop whining, calling for censorship, and join the discussion? or just don't read these threads of ours.

It seems to me the op started this thread only to fight. True or not, I don't see it going anywhere constructive so I'm closing it. Contact me in private if you feel like discussing it.
Closed.
