As I stated in the title, I'm moving from Arizona to Waukesha, WI to study at Carroll Uni. I'm 20 and I've pretty much lived in Arizona for 3/4s of my life. My moms from Waukesha and we have family in Wisconsin, so we visit every now and then, but not for extensive amounts of time.

I just wanted to know what to expect as far as the environment, people, and life in general is like over there. I know that being from Scottsdale, AZ, most people are pretty laid back, quiet, and sometimes stand offish here. I've lived in a suburban area for the entire time and life overall was very basic and sometimes boring.

Anyone that could tell me more about the area would be greatly appreciated since I want to know what to expect when I move and live there. I guess I'm also wondering if there's much to do that doesn't require too much money (being a student and all). Thanks in advance

It's going to be a downgrade in terms of amenities. Scottsdale is much bigger and there are much better stores, restaurants, etc. You should be plenty busy with school, so that really isn't too much of a concern.

It's a medium/small town.

I don't really consider Waukesha to be a small/medium "town" since it's over 70,000 people. Plus, consider the Milwaukee region has over 2 million people.

That's Mandalorian's schtick.

Milwaukee area is plenty big for anyone used to Scottsdale. It's culturally quite different, obviously.

Yeah, I also found it ironic that the comment about Waukesha being small came from someone who grew up in Wyoming where Waukesha is larger than the biggest city in Wyoming.

I scale against all cities in general, not just the ones I have lived in.

Silly. You talked to Mandalorian awhile back about Laramie on the "Wisconinites do you love it here" thread. lol. You told him you thought Laramie was a "cute town".

I have no idea how I remember these things.

I might as well try to answer a couple of the OP questions since I kind of derailed the thread.

The people in the Milwaukee region are fairly laid back. Not really quiet, but they aren't stand offish. There's a nice mix in Milwaukee so it's kind of hard for me to generalize.

Waukesha is 30 min from downtown Milwaukee. There's a huge variety of people, restaurants, and things to do in Milwaukee if Waukesha doesn't meet your needs. Whatever it is you want, chances are you can find it in Milwaukee if you are willing to search for it.
Your college campus will have lots to do that doesn't require too much money. I think Waukesha is a good location for a college. There's enough to do there or in the area, & besides you'll be busy on campus.
