Merry Christmas! Please enjoy the snow! Some of us northerners living in the south can only hope and pray for snow once a year! We had 70 degrees yesterday in Virginia. Not my idea of Christmas, usually its at least cooler than that!

Hope everyone has a happy, safe, and healthy New Year as well!

Hey, WI_Girl -

I would trade with you in a second if you'd like. I will gladly take coastal VA Christmas weather and you can have my snow. Yesterday, the temps here were roughly around 12 degrees with wind gusts commonly hitting 40 and even 50 mph for wind chills around -20. Then, we got a little burst of lake effect snow last night to add on another 1/2 inch of snow over the ~25 or so inches we've received over the past month (1/2 of which is now black from road stuff and mud and iced over from halfway melting).

Bing Crosby was nuts. I moved back up here (because I do like some stuff about living here) into the Milwaukee area from sunny New Mexico in July, and I can attest that non-white and sunny Christmases where golf was possible wasn't too darn shabby!

So...since you want this, and I want some sunny warmth, perhaps we should trade!

Regardless of my distain for the current weather conditions, I wish everyone on these boards a Merry Christmas!

We had about 10 inches fall on Sunday. The trees looks so pretty all covered in white. Can't wait to take out the snowshoes. We plan on trekking through the woods on Christmas afternoon. Happy Holidays everyone!

Hey Hntr,

I am enjoying your graphic winter path. Isn't it interesting how the camera sees this as black and white? I loaded up your shot in Photoshop to see if there was color there. Had to saturate the greens all the way just to bring out that small evergreen in lower right. The rest of them remained black!

I had taken a similar shot recently, and was noticing the same black and white effect. Like yours, this is a color photograph! Those large horizontal limbs at left center show color.

in the arboretum

No more than 25 feet from that shot are these two, both of which do show green.

pine tree

10 feet away from the previous, this one shows good color.

So, for me there is the question. What is going on inside the camera to bring out our shots as black and white?

I took the picture this morning, it was very hazy out. Maybe that's what mutes the colors.

Here's one I took this morning that has a little more color in it.
