That's assuming that she works downtown. Unless there's a station within a block or two of her office, she'd likely have to rely on an additional mode of transportation.

I don't know. I guess I was under the impression that it's easier to commute into Milwaukee than into Chicago. All the people I've known who have commuted south have been extremely disgruntled with it.

I don't imagine that using Gurnee as a center point would be too bad from either perspective, which is why I suggested it. The Gurnee area seems to be the perfect compromise; after all, it's less than an hour to both cities. Kenosha would be an hour and a half from Chicago.

Gurnee would be okay if she took the train, but the drive into the city (downtown) would be brutal and over an hour. I drive 13 miles to work (A.M. rush hour) and it takes me 40 minutes on a good day. Once it rains, snows, or if there's any construction or accidents, that all changes for the worse. I can't imagine driving from Gurnee into downtown. That would be hellish.

From personal experience...the commute is GRUELING. I work (ed) in Elk Grove village, and live in Racine. I left a company that I was making good money and had been there for 13 years, just because I couldn't deal with the 2-2 1/2 hr drive everyday. I had to leave IL AFTER 7pm to even get up to 50mph because of traffic, and I missed out on too much at home. The construction on 94 and 294 in upcoming months I believe would've killed me, and that's not even going into downtown. I would explore the option of finding work in Milwaukee (my commute for my new job-in Oak Creek-will be about 25 minutes, and going North is ALWAYS better than going South)...there are jobs out there - you just gotta look a bit more than in the past. That's my 2 cents..good luck!
