I bought a summer place in Lake Mills and I am concerned with the weight of snow on my roof. It's a trailer with a summer room. Anyone see signs of sagging roofs? Appreciate any info.

Default Hi, I live way up north

and we shovel our roofs, primarily to prevent ice damming which is when the melting snow freezes at the eaves and the water gets under the shingles and comes inside the house. If you have sufficient pitch on the roof I would not worry too much but if it is a mobile and the addition has a flatter type roof I would get some of that snow off of it as soon as I could. We have more on the way tonight, where I am 5-8 inches and then back into the deep freeze for friday. Good luck

the easiest thing to do is to go to the hardware store and buy a snow rake. You just put it on the roof and rake it down that way you do not risk breaking your neck on an icy roof!! That should do the trick and take some weight off and it prevents ice damming if you shovel off the first couple of feet. Good luck and be safe
