I have read this forum for years so I know to take everything with a grain of salt. Mostly because negative people tend to be much for vocal than positive but I want peoples opinions. My wife and 2 small children are looking into the Appleton area. I notice from the websites i look at that the crime seems low, but also the schools rate low while the property taxes are high well to me they seem high. so i especially want to know about the opinions of the public schools. from osh kosh up to green bay any areas to avoid?

I used to live on State St. in Appleton. The only real crime I recall were from the Hmong gangs but the violence was directed at their community, not the greater coomunity. Drunk driving is quite common. Overall, though, I liked Appleton. I didn't have any children of school age, though. The property taxes didn't seem all that bad to me. What area are you moving from? You should be able to easily buy a character home 3/2 for $100,000 all day long.

I would have no qualms about walking alone at night anywhere in the Fox Valley.

Appleton is nice. It's a good size with lots to do for the area.

Schools are okay, but schools in Kimberly, Neenah, and Greenville are better. All those places are close to Appleton.
