I guarantee it's low paying part-time jobs with zero benefits. Perhaps some people are satisfied with that. I wouldn't be.

College grads are fleeing the state because we can find better, higher paying jobs, along with a high QOL, like in TX, CO, WA, OR, CA, etc.

WI needs to invest in high tech jobs, and encourage the start up culture in Milwaukee and Madison.

It also doesn't help that most of us do not agree with the current political climate.

I'm not saying what WI is doing is wrong...but it isn't working with the young and educated work force. So the state can remain as is and suffer, or they can try to win us back and embrace change for the future.

Remove the words in red and add one as indicated and I agree 100%. Moving to TX with a house full of kids was the hardest thing to do. We left aging parents and the small community we loved because there simply wasn't a viable long-term plan that included a retirement before age 90. I am still looking for a buyer for our home there....

Nah, high tech jobs in Milwaukee and Madison is exactly accurate. They're the growth industries, and those are the only two cities with enough size and culture to attract and keep young workers.

Do the research yourself if you want the answer. In just a 3 county search of East Central Wisconsin I found over 2000 jobs. Here is just a short least of the good paying employers with technical job openings that are hiring:

Foth, Kohler, CyberCoders, Koch Industries, Michels, Miron, Jacobs Engineering, Jagemann Stamping, Siemens, Faith Industries, Schreiber Foods, Chermak, Fincantieri Marine Group, Siemens, Acuity, Forefront Dermatology, Lindquist Machine, Sargento, Aurora, Bellin Health, Rockline Industries, Gregg & Associates, Johnsonville Sausage, Nemak, Vollrath, Heresite, Crane Engineering, August Winter, Manitou Group, KEES Inc., Ranstad Engineering, HD Ramps, Kickhaefer Manufacturing Company, CENIT North America Inc, Philips, Pro Mach, Inc, Alliant Energy, Experis, Heresite Protective Coatings, Muermann Engineering, Worthington Industries, Inc.

But, yeah, all of you are correct. There is nothing out there for naysayers.... Oh, and you may have to pass a drug test and background check.

And these are good paying full time jobs with benefits, yes? Ok, whatever you say.

You found 2,000 jobs in three counties. An Indeed search for the entire state using salary of $30,000 or above (not really making bank) shows 24,455 positions available in the entire state. That doesn't include any exceptions for continuous postings or outdated postings. With Decembers unemployment numbers at 125,000 it looks a little short.

As of this morning:
Kohler has abouta dozen professional positions, and many more for service industry positions around their foodservice and resort investments. A significant portion of their listings are for co-op or intern positions.
Michels has 42jobs listed in WI and of those a quick look says 17 are entry level or interns.
Miron Construction currently has two (2) job openings statewide on their website.
Siemens website search for full-time positions of ANY career level has ZERO jobs in Wisconsin.
Faith Technologies has 51 jobs, as expected almost all technical in nature.

By contrast, Harris County, TX (Houston) has the same number of positions posted. Portland, OR and Charlotte, NC each has over 12-13,000 using the same criteria. There are many locations in the country that have and continue to recover professional employment opportunities at a much faster pace than WI.

How cute, you actually think job postings on a website means a place is actually hiring. Is that cute? Or naive?

I bet places like Ranstad Engineering are hiring, they're a temp agency. A look at a few others and they say things like they review all applications... but don't have PDs of specific jobs they're trying to fill. In other words, they're not really looking.

It's sad that people believe that.
