well the love of trucks thing was more because i couldn't think of a third item lol, but then again its one of those things that... well no one cares about cars anymore. puts me in a minority. and everyone wants a big honkin truck but none of them can park for crap at the supermarket, y'know?

now i do like to drive a bit slideways when the snow falls, but beyond that... well i can't keep the car clean, i can't work on it without freezing, i've got to subject it to extreme cold and large quantities of road salt, ice, etc etc. not to mention the worries that some idiot is going to plow into me on my hwy 41 commute; darn near every less than clear morning i've come across multiple accidents on my way to work .

plus i have to go 2/3 of the year without autocross or track days. i've done ice racing before, but its way too cold for me to hang out on the lake all day and besides, it's proven to be a good way to really break something.

thats a lot of bitterness. call it cabin fever, heh. but there are alot of good drivers roads around if you can find them. east of lake winnebago has alot, north of shawano does as well, and i haven't been to it but apparantly there's alot of great roads near the MN boarder (La Cross area).

I'd say:

1 - Cheaper property taxes
2 - More Chick Fila restaurants (there is only one)
3 - Better economy

1. Fix the overweight problem
2. no pesky bugs in the forests
3. Less taxes

then it'd be perfect

I thought about that one too, but really its an America problem, not a Wisconsin problem. And as far as America goes, Wisconsin is actually not one of the worst offenders.

The weight issue is really noticeable when you leave the country traveling to other countries. You do not see drastically overweight people. We have so many sedentary people and that coupled with poor eating habits, not a good thing. Actually part of the reason I wanted to move was to be in an area where I could walk more, ride my bike safely, and be more active.

In Illinois I'd see people move their car at a strip mall from one end to the other instead of walking. I lived in an area where there were minimal amounts of sidewalks and places weren't safe to walk at night.

The American food industry itsself holds a, er, large portion of the blame. But back on topic, I suppose winter doesn't help the sedimentary life

Sorry I was ranting but actually was trying to agree with the comment that it is an all over USA problem and not necessarily only Wisconsin!

I've been guilty myself and have recently re-joined Curves! Trying various restaurants here over this winter, I managed to put back on 10 of the 25 I lost! Spring is coming and I'll get back on my bike, walk every day and go to Curves.

Another bad thing is the Cedar Crest Ice Cream! I would only have it in the summer in Waukegan at the lake front ice cream stand. Here I can have it every day!

In the lastest Money Magazine poll Wisconsin is the 15th healthiest state. The worst our actually the warmer states, Mississippi, Arizona etc.
Maybe the hot weather makes people more inactive.
