I’m thinking about moving to Kenosha with the girlfriend soon cause I have a potential to relocate for work. I’ve heard both ways that it’s a nice safe city to live in but then I’ve heard that it’s kinda a bad place. Can anyone elaborate on this either way? We’d be looking to live near the Metra station since I would need it to get to work. (We decided on Kenosha cause it’s inbetween MKE and Waukegan with is where one of us is going to college and where one of us is working.) Thanks.

Kenosha is fine, I'd worry more about Waukegan. The area around the Metra station can be a little run down but in no way is any part of Kenosha dangerous or unsafe. The area northwest of the station is where I would look into. Kenosha is the 4th largest city in Wisconsin with over 100,000 people and will pass Green Bay as the 3rd largest city in the state very soon. Kenosha is a very affordable option to live in even the really nice areas you can find a nice house under 200K. Pleasant Prairie is nice as well but has a more suburban feel to it.

My sister has lived there for over 40 years and in that span I think there was one time where someone was going through the neighborhood breaking into cars, but she and her family never experienced anything remotely violent. When I visit her, I feel totally safe there and when we watch the local news, all the bad crime that's reported is in Milwaukee. Personal safety is probably my number one concern when considering where to live, and although I love where I live, if I needed to move to Kenosha, I'd be fine with the safety aspect. Not Racine, though.

Thanks, and yeah about Waukegan, I heard that it’s a place that you would work but not live as it’s very bad in some areas...I’m working at the marina though which is like a block away from the Metra which is cool, like walk past two parking lots and there’s the shop.
