I guess this a good way to rank school success. Google the above mentioned and it will spell it out very clearly. Please explain this myth to me and back it up.

There are loads of lists with differing methodology. But both are generally in the middle of the pack.

On the us.news list California ranks 44 for K-12, no surprise. As far as University/College, yes California does have many top schools, but public school K-12 it ranks near the very bottom with a bunch of states from the deep souths and the west just as I stated in my previous post.

So you just care about k-12? Nice low standards you have there... that's the direction of Wisconsin, reduce standards!

That's because you are looking at the overall averages. The best K-12 schools are in California. The overall public school scores here are weighed down by a large % of immigrants who don't go on to college. But if you are not an immigrant, the education system here is unsurpassed. Only FL and MD barely have better good high schools in 2017, and Florida is weird because they have a lot less schools in their ranking system than would be expected so their % may be skewed.

Wisconsin has 6 gold medal rated schools, or 1.2% and CA has 85, or 4%. For silver medals, nobody comes close to our 501 schools. Students who transfer here from out of state often struggle to catch up to their peers. There is a whole industry of tutors here who work for families of incoming students.

CA: 23.6% of high schools ranked silver or above. WI: 14.2%. Which isn't bad...

Which state is home to the smartest people?
If you had to pick the state that was home to the smartest people in the U.S., which one would you choose?

Wonder no more.

The Washington Post ventured to rank each state based on intelligence. Specifically, the rankings were determined by IQ, 2015 SAT scores, 2015ACT scores and the percentage of college graduates in the state (you can see where all that data came from here.)

Using those factors, Massachusetts came in as the smartest state; Hawaii the dumbest. And Alabama? Read on but here's a hint - it's not great.

I like Wisconsin cheese too, but I had some California cheese last week and it was pretty happy stuff. You all are not suffering out there in that regard.

There is some good stuff here in OR, but not the variety back there.
