My family and I are considering a move to Green County in Wisconsin. Primarily, Monroe. It seems like a nice area with affordable homes and lots of things to do.

I haven't been able to find really anything online regarding Green County when it comes to opinions/views of what it's really like to live there...good or bad.

Anyone live there or have any knowledge about the area?

Thank you!

Well first, you'll have to learn to speak Swiss if you want to live there.

I'm a FIB myself, having escaped from Cook County two yrs ago. You'll probably find that local govt in WI is remarkably user-friendly in WI as opposed to the adversarial attitude in IL.

If you don't like fresh air, clean water, rolling hills with miles of woods or grasslands, then you won't like WI in general. (Although your screen name suggests you're from N. IL and are already accustomed to this sort of terrain.) WI reminds me quite a bit of Europe with small town festivals, recreational activities including hiking, skiiing, etc. and small artsy-craftsy shops and restaurants.

Green Co does have a strong Swiss heritage. New Glarus especially even looks like a Swiss village.
