I don't mean the college Stout. I mean the town, the people, the spirit of the place. Whats it like? Friendly? Mean? Neither? Whatever you have to say I will listen(read) to it.

Episode #403: Menomonee Falls | Around the Corner with John McGivern | Local Programs | Milwaukee PBS

I don't know the place, but John McGivern always makes each town sound like the greatest place in the world. A very upbeat show.

Just once I'd like him to go: "Ghetto Valley, WI. What a cesspool! People are mean & nasty. Broken concrete for all the sidewalks and abandoned, stripped cars everywhere. Crime rate is high and you're risking your life to visit here, but it does have some of the best crystal meth labs in the state."...Just for comparison, of course, so we know we can trust his other shows.

BTW, I really like Me-no-money, I spent a few years going up there and I liked the vibe of the town. Now it's a small college town even smaller than your typical college town. Even though it's a college town it doesn't feel overwhelmed by the college like Whitewater or Madison does where everything seems to be about the college. Very affordable houses, quick access to the Twin Cities, it doesn't have a quaint feel like a Cedarburg does but it has it's own vibe. Fall time is pretty, there are some cool parks there and walking trails. I would visit in summer or fall if you can, park the car and just walk around. You'll end up going to Eau Claire to eat out or do your shopping. I really like it's small town feel. It's not prestigious at all.

For 200K you can pretty much live anywhere and for 250K and up you can buy a really nice house. Cost of living is cheap up there. Fall time is pretty and you can walk to the stadium and watch the stout kids play a little losing football. Bars are more the cheap college type. Check it out, it's very laid back you don't have to worry about keeping up with any Joneses here, there are no joneses.

My niece went to Stout and I enjoyed visiting the area. Red Cedar trails are great. They have a few good restaurants. Close to the Twin Cities. And close to Eau Claire for bigger things.

That video is on Menomonee Falls which is outside of Milwaukee, the city of Menomonie is between Eau Claire and Hudson.
