I realize access to the Information Superhighway not be great from the northern 1/2 of Wis. But I still need to ask, which company has the best and second best cell coverage UPnorth? We are planning to acquire a summer place in the north, possibly around Rhinelander or Tomahawk. This summer is for shopping. We have T Mobile, but I already know, their coverage in remote areas is bad to nonexistent. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the best service with AT&T up north. US Cellular works good, but sometimes they're a little slower.

It has been a bit since I have traveled thru the northwoods but even going into central Wi it seems US Cell has the best coverage when heading into more rural settings. My phone with ATT hasnt been bad, not much luck with Verizon (work phone) in same area though.
Most of my in laws have US Cell and like it when they travel around the state.

As for internet service no clue there. Would not be surprised if you’d end up using your phone plan for net access.

I was just up in Marinette County, looking at land the past two weeks. The realtor seemed to think that AT&T was the best bet in that area, at least. I can attest to Verizon being virtually useless just about everywhere up north.
I used to have US Cellular and it seemed to work pretty well. It's been quite a few years, though.

We had AT & T but living in the country in central WI we had no coverage and had to keep our land-line. Switched to Cellcom and have great coverage and we were able to drop the land line. And it works great up north too.

Understand, such service can be extremely variable by precise location. Away from a major metro even moreso. Lots of dead spots is an understatement in Vilas and Oneida counties (etc.).

Starting point is to use the physical street address of any particular parcel then utilize the online cellular coverage maps. They do not reflect real world service based on terrain though. Verizon then ATT would be my personal top 2 based on my own experience. T-Mobile is a non-starter essentially up there. YMMV
