Hello Dear Forum,
I might be getting a Job offer in Wisconsin. I could potentially live in one of these cities.
Fondu du Lac, Oshkosh or Appleton - I have 3 Kids - 8, 15 & 20 - 2 girls and a boy. Which would be the best place for a family - I would appreciate any good Suggestion. Thanks.

Are you able to visit all three places so you can get a feel for what might best suit your family? What things are most important to your family? Where are you moving to Wisconsin from?

Appleton has much more to do and is a very nice place. All three cities you've listed are within easy driving distance of each other. I frequently travel from Oshkosh to Fond du Lac or Appleton on just a moment's notice.

I currently live in Oshkosh but am in the process of moving out. It's not a bad town, overall. There are more bars and drinking establishments than necessary, but that's pretty much true of a lot of places in Wisconsin. Lots of drinkers here.

I lived in Fond du Lac for 20 years and raised my son there. It's about the same as Oshkosh. However, the high school is one huge school and I can't say that I was overly impressed with the quality of education offered. I'm of the opinion that several smaller schools are probably better than one gigantic school.
Appleton most likely has the best education opportunities.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of surrounding, smaller communities, too, if you're open to that idea. Omro has a very good school system as does Winneconne.

Near Fond du Lac, there are the small towns of Eden, St. Peter, Peebles (inexplicably pronounced Pebbles!), Lamartine, and Waupun. They're very pretty areas in which to live, but close enough to drive to Fond du Lac if you have a job there. Many people drive from Omro and Winneconne to Oshkosh for jobs. And from Neenah and Menasha to Appleton, etc.

The Fox Valley, Appleton, Oshkosh has a horrible smell from the paper mills. It's Awful!

Never noticed that, in Appleton. Kaukauna, yes, but not Appleton.

I go to Appleton frequently, about once a week. I've never smelled the paper mills in the 6 months since we moved here. Appleton is the biggest and nicest of the three. The metro around it makes the immediate area around it much bigger. Plus its closer to "up north" and all the outdoor recreational thats available in Wi.
