I have never heard of "red brat" or "white brat".

A better poll would be Klements vs Johnsonville vs Usingers?

BTW in the Best brat, I think I would have to go with Johnsonville, Usingers as a very distinct taste and Klements just isn't good to me. I guess we can still call Klements a Milwaukee Company even though it's owned by outside interest.

Really? I've only ever known brats as "red" or "white." Maybe it's a Madison only thing?

I prefer white if it's nicely chargrilled. Otherwise, for soups and stews, red is fine.

Usingers all the way! Agree about Klement's--their sausages don't taste right to me.

I actually never heard of red vs white brats before; raised in Milw in the 60’s-70’s and Mad area since 80’s. Now the whole “Johnsonville vs....” discussion is another thing. Or how best to cook them lol

I don't like any of the name brands. We get ours from the local butcher. Flavor is so much better.

I've also never heard of red brats, or red vs white. I usually buy Klements, because they're often on sale at Kwik Trip. I need to branch out & try some other brands.

I do prefer hamburgers over brats though.

Total side note but we had a brat cheeseburger at Monk’s Bar and grill (may have been a special) that really was good. The best of both worlds on one bun; so a choice doesnt have to be made lol

Ok back to red v white

How is it that some of you people live in a heavily Germanic-settled state but have never heard of white bratwurst(?)
