Recently visited Wausau and very much liked. Looking to make a lifestyle change in our 50's. One off to college and the other almost gone. Used to go up to Granite Peak all the time for skiing and never even knew there was a lake and so many beautiful parks/trails. Not concerned over school rankings as we have no children going. And not concerned over taxes because we're from Illinois. Enough said. But am concerned over crime rate and reading about the riparian rights being taken away. We want to look at properties on water and am curious about the recent ruling to possibly make homeowners take docks off their property. Hoping anyone out there can add their thoughts about crime out there and boating rights. We felt a strong police presence when we went into downtown district and curious.

We moved to central WI from Chicago 33 yrs ago. We really love it. Wausau is nice and we like Stevens Point also. Since we are in between the two we tend to go to Point more.
