When I went to Green Bay last year (for a Packer Game, of course) it was completely the dead the following days. That was my third time to Green Bay, the stadium was about all the town has to offer. I can't see it being a great place for anyone to live, yet alone young adults. I drove around for hours looking for a good shopping center, and found none. And for groceries I ended up stopping at a quick stop convenient store after passing by several shady looking locations.

If you couldn't find a Festival foods or Cubs in Green Bay you weren't looking too hard. Not sure what you like for entertainment but there are plenty of bars and clubs that offer live bands. There are concerts and entertainment at the Resch center and Onieda Casino, not to mention gambling at the later, for listings on entertainment check out the Green Bay or Appleton paper online -- they both list plenty of options for Green Bay, if you're there during the day Green Bay has an outstanding Botanical Gardens, there is Bay Beach amusement park for families (not to mention the wildlife sanctuary) along with Heritage Hill and the National Railroad museum. Plenty of good restaurants with some of the top ones being Hinterland (yeah, the same people run this one as they do Milwaukee's Hinterland), Republic Chop House, Chives, Koko's, on the cheap side they're are plenty of good mom & pop Mexican restaurants on the East side, my favorite is El Sarape. For shopping you'll find some cool stores over on Broadway, Military Avenue has several strip malls and then of course there is Baypark which is typical white bread American mall. Green Bay has NWTC, UWGB, and of course there is St. Norbert in suburban De Pere. But if Green Bay is too boring for you you'll have to try a larger city. Green Bay truly offers a helluvalot for a city of its size.

I subscribe to the line of thinking that it's you that makes a city and what you make of it vs what the city has to offer. Sometimes you have to work with less or work harder. I would not pick Green Bay as a place I would like to be a young professional to live in however I can think of a lot worse places than Green Bay.

Good point, Green Bay and Appleton are about the same size. Both urban cores are expected to go over 200,000 in the 2010 census and each of the two cities transit systems are facing federal funding cutbacks due to this.
