Anybody have any opinions on these cities and areas? I'm more familiar with Grand Chute and the Appleton area being that I live in Fond du Lac but I'm not real familiar with Manitowoc and Menomonee Falls. Thinking of moving.

Ok, let me rephrase the question. Which city would you feel most comfortable in raising your family between these cities - Manitowoc, Grand Chute or Menomonee Falls?

Manitowoc is a really nice town but the jobs can be hard to find in that area. My mom and step dad have been unemployed for over a year and my mom is just working through a staffing agency and having to drive to Kiel for work at Sargento. She's hoping to find a job closer in Manitowoc and has some interviews coming up. I like the city myself but I personally would pick Grand Chute. I think there is more to do there with a family and better job opportunities. Good luck!

You're not the only one . Seriously though, without turning everyone off, and really unless you are in the ministry you might not understand what I'm doing. I'm looking to start a church and I'm gathering information on the best place to uproot and start a work. I started out looking into 7 states, I'm down to 2, still up in the air about another. It's basically coming down to New Hampshire or staying in Wisconsin. I hope that clarifies it a little for you.

I lived in Manitowoc for 4 years and i really liked it. they have a really nice library downtown and there is always something going on in the community. it's a really nice place to raise kids mine were 10 9 and 6 when we moved there and they went form elementary to junior high there and the schools and teachers were awesome. we lived on the north side of town so that's the schools i am familiar with. if there's anything else i can help you with let me know.

I can only speak for Manitowoc. I had trasfered there for a job but ened up going back to Socal for family reasons. Anyways I really loved Manitowoc. The neighborhoods were very quite and clean. My kids' schools were great. If I had a chance to do it all over again I'd move my family back and raise my kids there in a heart beat. My kids are all almost raised now, but when we were there they could be kids. They all remeber how much more they were able to do when we lived in Manitowoc. Fishing, biking, walks all over town. When we moved back to Ca that all stopped. There was a real since of community there too. What I liked most compared to SoCal is for as small as it was there was always someting going on. Like a parade, festivale, or art sale. They have a band shell that actually is used for various music events in the summer. The only down side to me was if you need more then WalMart, Shopko, or Fleetfarm you'll have to go to Appleton or Green Bay to shop. Also it seemed like if you are out on a walk and you are crossing a street the drivers speed up or ignore the fact that you are there. I never walked in any other city in WI so I don't know if it just a problem there. Even as bad as Ca is if you are out walking and you step foot into a cross walk or off of a curb people will stop. The city is pretty much self contained for all of your needs. The people were pretty nice. I met a lot of real friendly people there. I only met a few real cave dwellers there, but I know you'd get that any where. At the time we lived there jobs were very plentiful, but I hear not so much right now. I don't know if it still there but I liked the Linebacker Pub. Fun Place to go shoot some pool and have a cold one. Good Luck to you.

Memo Falls is a pretty upscale place, avg. income there is about twice what it is
in Manitowoc.Grand Chute is somewhere in the middle.
I would choose according to my economic status myself.
