I too am interested in Stevens Point. How large is the city? is it expensive to live there? what about shopping, grocery stores etc. we are looking to re-locate to Stevens Point or Plover as we live in a tiny town in Wi, and need closer locations of hospitals and drs. we are in our 60's...and have pets..are the landlords there pet friendly?
thanks!

Default considering a job in stevens point, wi

Hi! I am highly considering a job opportunity in stevens point. I visited the area for a site interview and I was really impressed by the place and i thought it was a very beautiful city. However, a few hours before I was supposed to leave, a fellow asian that I met randomly in one of the restaurants warned me about racial discrimination that he experienced working there (that's why he is now moving on to another city) It seems the community is predominantly white. I do hear of some asian population, but very minimal. I wanted to confirm if there is really racial discrimination there? It is upsetting especially since when I visited, everybody seemed so nice and friendly.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm not saying that it didn't happen to that person, but in general you will find the people of Point to be very friendly and open to everyone. I'm relatively new here and I've been impressed with how genuinely nice the people have been.
