Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone lived near wind turbines and what they thought of them.

I have never lived by them, but I have driven by them. I think they are cool looking and unique. They are good for the environment so hey, why the hell not use them. I would rather see those than power plants that shoot thick black smoke in the air.

I've been quite close to them and don't think it would be a big deal to live nearby. My nephew took me to a big wind farm near Mason City, Iowa and it really wasn't loud and they were all going.

I also was near some that are by Highway 30 in Western Illinois and didn't think they were noisey either.

I've read where people don't like them and I wonder what is not to like?

Bottom line is......this world will eventually go into an enery crisis and we are starting to see the very early stages of that now. Would you rather see us keep using energy sources we will eventually run out of, or renewable energy such as wind energy??? Of course people who live near these are going to complain. I heard they are noisy and I have also heard complaints of the shadows of the spinning turbines causing seizures being the reason people rejecting the idea. Come on people, these sound like petty and rediculous complaints. I didn't hear noise when I was near them and the seizure thing sounds kind of out there to me.

There is a wind turbine field south of Fond Du Lac, two are fairly close to the road, yet I have never heard any noise from them. Last summer we were sitting within a hundred yards of them and never heard anything.

Ditto.

I've never noticed any noise from the turbines down by Fond du Lac either. I would have no problem whatsoever allowing them on my property.

I've driven past them, and thought they looked graceful and sculptural.
