Alright. I'm about to head up to Chippewa Falls from close to New Orleans to take over as library director and, of course, I'm both excited and nervous. I think the town and people are just great and no hurricanes ever menaced the place. And talk about clean! It's like Austria up there!

And yes, I know how cold it is, etc.

My question is this: where's a good place to get a beer and watch the Superbowl?

A good place to get a beer and watch the superbowl in Chippewa Falls is Sweeny's on canal st. or First and Goal. I have lived in Chippewa Falls for 8 years. I dont really enjoy living here. Its not that its a bad place but not for everyone. The winters are very harsh, the road conditions are terrible, and the schooling system has one of the highest pregnancy rates in the country per capita. There are alot of run down shops downtown and virtually no commerce here besides grocery stores and bars. The adjacent city Eau Claire is a pretty good city with commerce but still bad winters and roads. I will say there are some advantages but if your looking for a great life this is not the place. The fishing, boating, summers are pretty fun here. But this is the truth.
