Can anyone tell me what Appleton is like? I lived in Eau Claire and eastern Wisconsin - liked Eau Claire, didn't like Eastern Wisconsin. I'm looking for a place to finish out my career and retire.

[LEFT]To be honest i am a single 42 year old black man that has lived in both green bay and appleton, i have lived in all the bad neighborhoods in both cities. But i have never came across a city in the area with as bad neiborhoods as appleton has. I thought that since i am black i would fit in with a more diverse neighborhood. But when living in appleton after just 1 year my house was robbed 4 times, my car was stolen out of my drive way, i was robbed at gun point while walking down the street in the middle of the day, in my ****ty dirty old neiborhood in appleton it seemed like every week the gas station just up the street from my house was robbed. And there were shootings at least once a week in that neighborhood. Then when i thought that it couldnt git any worse in my neiborhood at the gas station a couple blocks in the other direction there was a gang shooting in the parking lot that lead to a double murder. Any body who says that oshkosh or green bay are worse than appleton have no idea what there talking about, and they obeously havent been to where ive been. There may be alot more things to do and places to go in appleton but its sertently not worth living where ive lived in appleton.

You keep dredging up years-old threads to say the same thing over and over. We get it already -- you don't like Appleton and you think it's a crime-ridden pit. Meanwhile back here on Planet Reality, Appleton has such a ridiculously low crime rate that one wonders how you managed to be so close to so many bad events. What kind of people are you hanging out with and why?

I've got to question OP's remarks. I don't yet live in the Appleton area, but do plan to retire there once we sell our house in Madison. From everything I've researched & from my own visits, I find it really hard to believe things could be that bad. The majority of people who post that do live in the Appleton area have mostly positive things to say.
