Don't want to do my income tax online, is there anywhere else to go other than H n R Block and Jackson Hewitt. I'm looking for a non comercialized place. Any suggestions?

Print the forms from the IRS web site and mail them in yourself. Or find a local accoutant.

If you have a simple return, look up Tax-Aide, a free service provided by AARP, and you don't have to be a member of AARP to have them completed.

Also look into your local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Depending on where your income (I know...it's always income levels) they will prepare them for you for free. It's much like the Tax-Aide program.

My advice-have a CPA do them. In the long run if you ever need to be audited, they are the ones who will go to it-not you. No matter what my income was-I've followed that advice my Dad gave me when I was a teenager.

If you only have some W2s, interest/dividend income, mortgage payment, maybe sold some stocks, you don't need a CPA to do your tax.

If you are a business owner (s-corp, c-corp, partnership, etc) with a lot of business expenses, maybe it is worth it to get a CPA.

VITA is a good idea. My tax return is easy so I usually use the free version of tax retrun online.

I was a tax preparer when I was in college and I felt bad for people paying $80 for a simple tax return (one w2 only).

Me too! I worked at a VITA site (it was a community center) for one tax season and could not even imagine or make up some of the stories I heard from some of the people that came in.
